(we are in Zone 10T) A meter will be a meter regardless of where you are, 1° longitude on the other hand changes relative to where you are on the planet. UTMs are actually based off Lat Longs with 60 longitudinal zones 6° wide, and 20 latitudinal zones 8° tall. Lat Long is designed for *long* distance travel, as in ships, planes, or cross country driving. The H in hddd.ddddd is for the hemisphere (not heading) then cimal I believe Google Earth will just DL everything on the unit though so it wouldn't surprise me if mapsource was the same. I don't use mapsource too much, but I know Maptech's Terrain Navigator will let you pick and choose what you want to download.
